Wine Club

Our wine education classes are held monthly on the last Thursday at 6:30 pm. We have a format unique to the area in which we taste each wine pared with hors d'voeuvre to help educate you about selecting wine to serve with your meals. A wine industry professional presents in-depth information about each winery and the winemaking process. We even get out the maps and talk about geography and "terroir." A fun and tasty time is had by all! Classes are $10 per person and we offer a discount of 10% on six bottles and 15% on 12 or more bottles, mix and match. Our everyday wine discount is 5% on six bottles and 10% on 12 or more bottles, mix and match. So come to class and save BIG!

About  this event, Chris Kern & ForgottenGrapes.com:   Lock up your Pinot, hide away your Chardonnay, and keep your Merlot on the down low, because on Saturday, August 21st at The Seasoned Gourmet in Wilmington, the Forgotten Grapes invade Coastal Carolina.

Wine expert, culinary entrepreneur and founder of ForgottenGrapes.com Chris Kern is partnering with one of Wilmington’s favorite wine and culinary Meccas The Seasoned Gourmet for an irreverent, interactive, off-the-wall, and pop-culture-filled “Getting Friendly with Forgotten Grapes” food and wine pairing extravaganza on Saturday, August 21st at 6:30 p.m. at The Seasoned Gourmet in the Lumina Commons in Wilmington.

This unique “Getting Friendly with Forgotten Grapes” event will focus on the Forgotten Grapes, the lesser-known and uncommon varietals of the wine world (think everything that’s not Cab, Chard, Merlot, Pinot, Sauv Blanc or Syrah). Mr. Kern has specifically chosen five different Forgotten Grapes for North Carolina’s wine lovers to try, and he will tell stories, crack jokes, sing songs, and dress up in costume to introduce you to these exceptional yet misunderstood wines. Plus, each Forgotten Grape wine will be paired with a very special “tapas-style” dish created exclusively by The Seasoned Gourmet’s culinary mastermind Susan Boyles to specifically match each varietal.

“I could not be more excited to be working with the folks from The Seasoned Gourmet, because they really know their food and wine,” exclaims Mr. Kern. “A Forgotten Grapes wine tasting is loaded with pop culture references, completely interactive, totally unpredictable, and with these five unique wines paired with Susan’ exquisite food, I really don’t know what could be better! If you’re a food and wine lover living anywhere near Wilmington, you owe it to yourself to be at The Seasoned Gourmet on Saturday, August 21st. I know that’s where I’d be.”

Chris Kern is a Southern California-based wine writer, wine educator, and culinary entrepreneur best known as the founder and creative driving force behind ForgottenGrapes.com, a wine-focused website dedicated to the lesser-known and uncommon grapes of wine. Utilizing a unique pop-culture-centric take on wine mixed with irreverent humor and encyclopedic knowledge, ForgottenGrapes.com has amassed legions of fans from around the world and from wine lovers of all ilk—from the snootiest connoisseurs to the folks who guzzle “Two Buck Chuck.” Chris regularly travels across the country introducing Forgotten Grapes to curious wine drinkers through his “Getting Friendly with Forgotten Grapes” live wine tasting events. He also leads Forgotten Grapes wine tours to California’s Central Coast, Napa and Sonoma wine regions and France’s Rhone Valley and Provence regions. Chris and ForgottenGrapes.com were recently featured in the August 2010 issue of La Cucina Italiana magazine.
