Albariño is synonymous with Rias Baixas, in the cold green province of Galicia, still Spain, just above Portugal. It is a wine defined by the Atlantic. The vineyards it grows in are shaped by cooling sea breezes, with enough sun to get the berries perfectly ripe. The flavour, too, speaks of the sea. This is slatey and creamy, like succulent shellfish, with a delightful salinity. A squeeze of citrus keeps everything fresh and lively, while sunny peachy flavours flesh out the palate for a smooth, round finish. It’s beyond perfect with seafood, and a quintessential food wine, that is also dangerously drinkable on it’s own. Delicious!
