Uni (Sea Urchin) Tray | Boston
Note this product usually takes between 1-3 business days to be fulfilled. It is sent FRESH. When sent to any shipping destination it is shipped fresh, in a separate box from anything else on your order. This is factored into the price. Uni orders are nonrefundable and non-cancellable once we have ordered the Uni.
Shipping Uni FROZEN allows for simpler and more cost-efficient logistics, resulting in a lower sales price. However, the shipping cost isn't factored into the product price.
Uni, also known as sea urchin roe, is a highly prized delicacy in Japanese cuisine and can be enjoyed in many different ways.
Uni is typically described as having a sweet, creamy, and slightly briny flavor and its texture is often described as being soft and custardy. Enjoy uni with a sprinkle of lemon juice or a dash of soy sauce to enhance its flavor. It has a strong ocean smell and is thick, creamy, rich, and buttery in texture. A good friend of mine says eating Uni is like getting slapped by the sea...
This is a love-it-or-hate-it kind of flavor and texture.
Note that Uni is best FRESH as texture changes when frozen. However, frozen Uni can still be used for a variety of pastes, sauces, with rice, and even by itself with a nice glass of sake.
The best defrosting method for Uni would be overnight in the fridge. We wouldn't recommend any other way.
WHERE IS IT FROM?
This Uni is sourced from Boston, USA and it is some of the highest quality of Uni sold in the US. It is sustainably sourced by divers and it is "sushi grade". Our Uni gets delivered every couple of days, so it usually takes your order 48-72 hrs to ship.
Each order is for 2.1oz (60g) of Uni. Shelf life is guaranteed for 1-2 days after delivery.
